Children’s Emotion Management Scale - Short version (CEMS)

A shortened version of the Children’s Emotion Management scale (CEMS) was assessed. The CEMS is a self-report questionnaire assessing inhibition, coping and dysregulation in anger, sadness and worry.

In our shortened assessment, we assessed 9 items. 3 items assessed inhibition, which is whether a participant did not show feelings when feeling angry, sad or worried. 3 items assessed coping, which is whether a participant seeks distraction or a person to talk to when feeling angry, sad or worried. Another 3 items assessed dysregulation, which is whether a participant emotionally acts out (screams, cries) when feeling angry, sad or worried. Items are answered on a 3-point Likert scale
