Adapted Child-Adult Medical Procedure Interaction Scale-Short Form (CAMPIS-SF)

The behavior of the infant and parent during the venepuncture was coded using the Generation R Infant Distress Scale (GRIDS) at age 1 year. This observational instrument includes a selection of behaviours from various existing observation scales of parent and child/infant behaviour during medical procedures. It includes both nonverbal and verbal behaviours of the parent and infant. The ‘infant distress’ score combined the following behaviours, based on factor analysis: crying, resisting (including flailing), requesting emotional support, (reverse-coded) information seeking, and (reverse-coded) playing/engaging in distraction.
